OB Surg Tech

About the role

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintains the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery Operating Room.
• Understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
• Ensure quality patient care during operative procedures and maintain the sterile field.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program required.
• One year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist required.
• Three years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BCLS) required upon hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) preferred.
