Responsibilities

Collaborates in managing day-to-day activities within the eligibility section.

Establishes goals and objectives; develops and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; and manages evaluation activities.

Works as the assistant manager of the eligibility section of the Crime Victims' Compensation (CVC) Program. Acts as the manager of the Eligibility section in the absence of the manager.

Affords assistance in supervising staff, including hiring, recommending personnel actions, conducting employee performance evaluations, and identifying training needs.

Aids in the development and implementation of techniques for evaluating business function, division, or department activities.

Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of the Eligibility section staff of the CVC Program.

Trains and educates advocates, law enforcement, district and county attorneys' offices, and other constituency groups in public settings, forums, using presentation media.

Provides input in the development of new policies and procedures, and monitors compliance with policies and procedures.

Provides technical expertise and guidance regarding questions related to the business function, division, or department.

Offers professional oversight and guidance to other occupations or support staff, including management-level staff, to ensure compliance with and adherence to regulatory standards and established procedures.

Performs advanced and complex analysis of claims to determine legal authority for qualification under the CVC program to include decision making work role as the manager in his absence.

Identifies, gathers, and evaluates records of individuals applying for CVC benefits.

Prepares comprehensive and detailed reports to document facts of the incident and recommend denial or approval of a CVC claim.

Consults in the drafting of ongoing business processes, forms, and procedures for the eligibility section.

Prepares and reviews daily, weekly, and monthly employee production reports for management.

Performs related work as assigned.

Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.

Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule.

Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.

Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business management, business administration, health administration, criminal justice, customer service, social service, or a closely related field.

Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Experience: Seven years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: management or supervisory, criminal justice, customer service, social service, experience interacting with persons in emotional stress or crisis.

Priorities

Eight years full-time experience in a high-volume environment.
