Nutritionist RD

Qualifications

• RD or RD eligible
• Successful completion of site personnel general orientation and successful completion of department-specific orientation
• PREFERRED: Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable)

Essential Functions

• Attends annual competency series for clinical staff; provides competency lectures when applicable.
• Conducts in-service sessions for hospital personnel where applicable and serves as education preceptor for dietetic interns from CSE, UMDNJ, Sodexo and other students as assigned.
• Confers with multidisciplinary healthcare team members to include; but not limited to, physicians, nurses, and case managers, as related to patient care.
• Attends patient care conferences.
• Develops, plans, and implements nutrition projects for the department and community through services such as speaking engagements and classes.
• Fulfills scheduling requirements (non-exempt positions) 22.5 Hour Work Week Days Part-Time
• Maintains registration status through attendance at seminars and continuing education programs.
• Participates in the interdisciplinary patient teaching process by providing appropriate diet and drug/nutrient interaction education to patients and/or family members.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify the learning methods preference of the patient.
• Reviews medical records, assesses patient needs and initiates appropriate nutritional therapy to provide optimal care, evaluated based on chart audits and clinical competency evaluation.
