About the role

Arranges food and beverages to make products available to students and staff. Collects payments, adds funds to assigned lunch accounts, and reconciles the POS cash drawer at the end of each shift.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify reimbursable meals, charging appropriately
  • Respond to student and staff inquiries about lunch accounts
  • Complete food preparation tasks as communicated by the Kitchen Manager or Head Cook
  • Assist co-workers with tasks during downtime, including stocking inventory, receiving and storing orders, food preparation, portioning, packaging, dishes, cleaning, and sanitizing
  • Learn and update skills on the POS system to meet changing job conditions
  • Perform basic math including fractions, percentages, and money handling
  • Maintain proper hygiene and adhere to the appropriate dress code

Requirements

  • Ability to adapt and work well in a changing work environment
  • Work well under pressure
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push or pull heavy carts and racks
  • Ability to work in varied temperatures (e.g., freezer, hot kitchen)
  • Strong communication and customer relations skills
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED (desirable)
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes
