Nutrition Support Clinical Dietitian II/ Dietitian I
About the role
The University of Iowa Healthcare department of Food & Nutrition seeks a Clinical Dietitian II or Dietitian I to join the Advanced Nutrition Support Team. This position provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and complicated enteral nutrition adult patients, performs Nutrition Focused Physical Exams, educates medical staff, medical students, and dietetic students, teaches Master of Clinical Nutrition Students, participates in multidisciplinary teams, and develops nutritional components of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to TPN and complicated enteral nutrition adult patients
- Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exams
- Educate medical staff, medical students, and dietetic students
- Teach Master of Clinical Nutrition Students
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and develop nutritional components of care
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient’s status according to age
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- 5-7 years of clinical nutrition experience
- Experience making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas
- Certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
- Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
- A Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) certification is desirable or must be willing to obtain within the first year of employment
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Candidates registered prior to January 1 2024, a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
- Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
- A Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) certification is desirable or must be willing to obtain within the first year of employment
Skills
- Knowledge of nutrition principles and practices
- Ability to communicate effectively with various healthcare professionals
- Proficiency in using the Nutrition Care Process

Dietitian I: $57,850
