Nutrition Service Worker - Alpine Elementary

Non-contract position, no benefits. Open until filled. Hours per day: 5.5. Hourly rate: $16.62

About the role

The Nutrition Services Worker provides support to food service activities at an assigned location, including preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel, and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

Responsibilities

• Arranges food and beverage items at the request and direction of supervisors to serve students and staff efficiently.
• Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops (e.g., Food Handler's Permit training, safety meetings) to gather information required for job functions.
• Cleans utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas (e.g., oven, refrigerator) to maintain sanitary conditions.
• Cooks food to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
• Estimates food preparation amounts and adjusts recipes as needed to meet meal requirements and minimize waste.
• Inspects food items and supplies (e.g., flour, serving trays) to verify quantity, quality, and compliance with health standards.
• Inventories food, condiments, supplies, and equipment at specified intervals to ensure availability for projected menu requirements.
• Maintains equipment, storage, and food preparation areas in a sanitary condition to comply with health standards.
• Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
• Performs functions of other nutritional services positions (e.g., account technician, lead cook) as requested to ensure adequate staff coverage.
• Prepares food and beverage items (e.g., breakfast and lunch) to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to notify supervisors of repair or replacement needs.
• Serves food items to meet mandated nutritional requirements or requests from students and school personnel.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

• Age 16 or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Job-related experience is desired.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout a workday.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 150 lbs. repeatedly throughout a workday.

Certificates

• Food Handlers Permit.
