About the role
Nutrition Assistants play a crucial role in providing high-quality dining services to patients at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital. They are responsible for educating patients on their prescribed diets, serving meals accurately, and ensuring patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients using their names and educate them on the dining services programs.
- Serve as the first point of contact for all complaints involving patient food service.
- Communicate pertinent information to ensure proper handling and processing of information.
- Contribute towards improving department scores for employee engagement and patient satisfaction.
- Assure new admits receive information about the dining services program and their prescribed diets.
- Aid and accommodate patients with dietary information, answer questions, place orders, and distribute meals and snacks.
- Check trays for accuracy and presentation before delivering to patients, securing any missing items or additional requests.
- Accurately log and track customer concerns, utilizing appropriate patient identifiers, and ensuring patient satisfaction.
- Confirm diet orders, review insulin reports, and assist in reducing waste and redundancy.
- Maintain an orderly work area, ensuring supplies are stored properly, and maintain stock of patient menus.
- Inventories condiments and maintains budgeting funds, managing time effectively and prioritizing daily tasks.
- Make recommendations to improve patient satisfaction scores and assist in developing process improvements.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- One year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- Must have one of the following certifications: Food Handlers Permit or Certified Food Manager.
