About the role

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) is seeking a Nursing Technician to join their team. This position is intended to be eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Affords patient care by assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges as assigned.
  • Supports patients by performing activities of daily living, safely operating patient care equipment, and promoting skin integrity and safety measures.
  • Documents patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Acts as a patient/family advocate by providing comfort, assistance, and information, and reporting patient care and condition to RN or LPN as directed.
  • Committed to UI Health values through teamwork and effective communication to achieve quality outcomes, patient safety, customer satisfaction, and a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment.
  • Participates in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
  • Identifies recurring clinical practice and/or related unit problems and participates in problem-solving and resolution.
  • Collaborates with other staff to promote and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
  • Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet such needs.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Possession of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license from an accredited institution/school/program.
  • Registered and active on the Illinois Department of Public Health – Health Care Work Registry at this link.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification and other required unit-specific certifications.
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.

Qualifications

  • Illinois residency at the time of application submission is required.
