About the role
The Team Leader is responsible for supervising staff, managing patient flow, ensuring patient safety, and coordinating educational programs. They also participate in PI activities, collect data, and evaluate staff performance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates unit activities and provides leadership for staffing and patient assignments.
- Responds to and provides leadership during crisis and emergency situations.
- Supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to patients.
- Evaluates care for assigned LPN patients upon admission and periodically.
- Promotes efficient patient flow and a safe environment.
- Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for staff.
- Provides just-in-time feedback and maintains records.
- Implements evidence-based practices and rounds on patients.
- Maintains effective interdepartmental relationships.
- Maintains compliance with quality standards and regulatory agency requirements.
- Facilitates bidirectional communication and ensures timely information exchange.
- Treats all people fairly and with respect.
- Creates an environment supportive of recruitment and retention.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current Alabama or Multistate License.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse.
- Specialty nursing experience preferred in applied area.
- Must obtain ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and other certifications within 6 months of hire.
- Current BLS Provider training required.
- BSN preferred, minimum Associates required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
Qualifications
- Must be able to use computers, electronic mail, telephone, and texting.
- Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to reach reasonably distances in any direction.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, sit, and stoop.
- Must be able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, and carry objects.
- Must possess stamina to provide 24-hour management for assigned area(s).
- Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
