About the Role

The Nursing Support Coordinator (NSC) performs staffing functions on a shift-to-shift basis, ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained in the Inpatient Units, Outpatient Clinics, and Emergency Department. The NSC must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure, and handle rigorous demands. The role requires strong organizational and analytical skills, as well as the ability to make tough staffing recommendations to nursing leaders. The NSC must be able to build relationships, negotiate, and persuade.

Responsibilities

  • Perform staffing functions on a shift-to-shift basis to maintain adequate staffing levels in Inpatient Units, Outpatient Clinics, and Emergency Department.
  • Make tough staffing recommendations to nursing leaders.
  • Build relationships, negotiate, and persuade to ensure optimal staffing solutions.
  • Coordinate multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Utilize critical thinking, problem identification, and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage conflict and employ negotiation strategies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree plus one (1) year of related experience preferred, OR Licensed Vocational Nurse with one (1) year of related experience preferred, OR five (5) years of commensurate experience required.
  • One (1) year of staffing, advanced secretarial, or office manager duties in a healthcare environment; experience using Kronos software preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating various office equipment: faxes, computers, printers, copiers, etc.

Skills

  • Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact).
  • Exceptional verbal communication (e.g., public speaking).
  • Writing and composing correspondence and reports.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terms.
  • Typing speed of 35 wpm.
  • Proficiency in PC, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer relations and grammar/spelling.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Critical thinking, problem identification, and problem-solving.
  • Negotiation and conflict management.

Schedule

  • Weekends, holidays, and overtime required.
