Nursing Supervisor

About the Role

This role involves supervising and managing nursing staff, ensuring high-quality medical care, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. The position requires a strong background in nursing leadership, clinical experience, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Orient and train supervised employees in job duties.
• Conduct timely performance evaluations and process related paperwork.
• Address disciplinary issues and document actions in accordance with policies.
• Ensure employees meet minimum training requirements and monitor attendance.
• Process payroll and handle related issues in UKG.
• Complete and submit Samanage forms (NUAF, billet changes) accurately and on time.
• Maintain accurate billet lists and coordinate with HR to fill open positions.
• Create and conduct training on mental illness, addiction, and related medical concerns.
• Monitor Carelogic to correct failed activities and unsigned documents for timely billing.
• Assign duties, create monthly schedules, and coordinate nursing services.
• Define and maintain standards of nursing practice within the Agency.
• Evaluate nursing activities to ensure client care, staff relations, and efficiency.
• Work with the Medical Manager to create nursing protocols and workflows.
• Encourage staff participation in identifying essential services for positive client outcomes.
• Facilitate open communication among staff.
• Develop and present staff training on medical issues (e.g., substance use disorders, universal precautions, CPR).
• Manage and secure prescription medications, sharps, syringes, and medical equipment.
• Review and approve invoices (pharmacy, contract nurse, laboratory).
• Maintain accountability of medical equipment and schedule biohazard waste management.
• Coordinate medical care plans with medical providers.
• Monitor pharmacy policy for medication handling and ordering compliance.
• Supervise direct care staff and serve as a resource.
• Collaborate with other departments and agencies for improved patient care and staff development.
• Serve as a spokesperson for nursing matters and represent the organization professionally.
• Investigate and resolve complaints or refer unusual problems to superiors.
• Provide situational assistance with direct client care.
• Provide coverage for staff during time off at all facilities.
• Ensure economical use of supplies and equipment to contain costs.
• Oversee compliance with standards of care, ethics, and confidentiality.
• Comply with OSHA requirements.
• Maintain professional training, stay current with developments, and keep license active.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a valid Ohio License.
• One (1) year of clinical and nursing management leadership required.
• Three (3) years of RN nursing experience required, with one (1) year in behavioral health or Emergency Department preferred.
• Maintains required licensure/certification in good standing.
• Willingness to travel; reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a driving record that meets Agency insurance requirements.
• Cognitive skills to complete tasks, including learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and decision-making.
• Ability to handle multiple complex problems and multi-task efficiently under stress.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with diverse populations.
