Responsibilities
- Provides interpretation of hospital policies and procedures to staff.
- Initiates appropriate and immediate corrective action when established policy/procedure is not followed.
- Provides direction in all emergencies.
- Monitors for proper utilization of staff.
- Facilitates lines of communication interdepartmentally.
- Intercedes and effectively communicates issues and actions to hospital administration and appropriate department heads.
- Addresses problematic issues involving patients, families, visitors, and personnel.
- Proactively ensures adequate resources are available to meet patient care needs.
- Ensures regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrates competence as an on‑site manager responsible for hospital operations in the absence of the administrator.
- Identifies and reports actual and potential risk issues.
- Adjusts staffing of nursing departments based on changes in acuity, census, and addresses sick calls, no‑shows, and staffing issues.
- Participates in the hospital's Performance Improvement activities through education and monitoring of staff.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Valid New Jersey RN license.
- BSN preferred.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (AHA‑approved).
