Nursing Station Clerk/NSC Trainee 19N Med Onc - Part Time Night Shift
About the role
This Nursing Station Clerk 1 position is assigned to either inpatient or outpatient units where there is daily contact with patients. The role involves greeting visitors, answering telephones, performing data entry activities, maintaining logs, preparing and updating patient charts, filling out medication tickets, and delivering supplies.
Responsibilities
- Orient patients and/or families to the unit, providing general information and serving as a contact person.
- Process physicians' orders by recording them in charts and filling out medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions.
- Receive new admissions and prepare and maintain patient charts, daily logs, and clinic logs.
- Answer telephones and direct visitors to appropriate locations.
- Fill out and update patient files and charts.
- Mail patient letters and deliver supplies and records to an assigned unit.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of patient care, and the ability to respond to changing patient needs based on ethical principles. They must also be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Nursing Station Clerk 1.
Qualifications
- One year of full-time clerical (in a health care setting), secretarial (in a health care setting), or patient care experience.
Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of patient care, and the ability to respond to changing patient needs based on ethical principles.
