About the role
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist influences healthcare professionals by focusing on improving knowledge, skills, abilities, judgment, and performance behaviors. This role uses advanced skills in curriculum design, evidence-based practice, and leadership to enhance role competence, promote learner growth, achieve improved health outcomes, and support workforce well-being. The NPD Specialist also upholds regulatory standards and supports accreditation measures through collaboration, engagement, and accountability in quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Design, facilitate, and validate education programs for healthcare professionals.
- Apply adult education principles to improve clinical nursing practice.
- Promote continuous quality improvement in patient care and services through education.
- Support regulatory compliance and accreditation measures.
- Encourage collaboration and accountability in quality and safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in nursing required, or BSN and a graduate degree in a related field (e.g., education).
- 7 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting, including 3 years of department/unit/specialty-specific experience.
- Previous experience in designing, facilitating, and validating education preferred.
Qualifications
- Current Vermont RN licensure.
- Completion of an endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification (department-specific guidelines).
- BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
- Specialty certification in Nursing Professional Development* or unit-specific certification** (obtained within one year of hire or two years for unit-specific certification).

Pay
