Nursing Professional Development Specialist

About the role

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist enhances nursing staff growth through education, training, and continuous learning. They collaborate with leadership to identify educational needs, develop curricula, and implement strategies aimed at improving nursing practice and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support professional development and promote lifelong learning within nursing teams.
• Design educational programs to address knowledge and skill gaps identified through needs assessments.
• Influence practice environments by collaborating with leadership on planning and decision‑making.
• Drive process improvements and change initiatives using project management and improvement methodologies.
• Advance evidence‑based practice and research to improve clinical care.
• Support nurses' transitions across roles and environments, fostering professional growth.
• Contribute to the generation and dissemination of new knowledge in nursing practice.

Qualifications

• Inpatient Pediatric Behavioral Health experience required; 1+ year NPD experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of healthcare experience; proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience working with all organizational levels and interdisciplinary teams.
• Master’s degree in nursing or BSN in process of obtaining master’s; RN licensure required.
• BLS certification mandatory; PALS and professional certification preferred.

Additional requirements

• Strong project management, data analysis, and presentation skills preferred.
• Supports onsite work; actively promotes research, evidence‑based practice, and quality improvement.
