Nursing Professional Development - Practitioner
Position Overview
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner utilizes professional judgment and expertise to enhance the role competence and growth of learners across various settings, supporting the IU Health Way.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead onboarding and orientation programs for new staff and learners.
- Manage and assess competency development and maintenance for clinical staff.
- Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and role development initiatives.
- Build collaborative partnerships with unit leaders, educators, and stakeholders to support organizational goals.
- Facilitate inquiry and evidence-based practice to promote continuous improvement.
- Support system-wide and unit-specific educational strategies to meet evolving patient care needs.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Licensure: Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Additional advanced life support certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty.
- Experience: Two years of nursing experience preferred. OR Experience Strongly Preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills: Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and techniques. Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support educational needs across the system. Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
