About the role
This position is accountable for the planning and oversight of Nursing Students during clinical time at CCH. This position will work with the local college to provide orientation, develop and coach students. During times when school is not in session, this position will work with educator and on tasks as assigned by med surg manager. This position will function autonomously while assuring students are providing quality and evidence based care to patients.
Responsibilities
- Nursing Instructor - Coaches and guides students by modeling clinical practice through integration of new evidence based practices.
- Clinical Coordinator - Coordinates clinical for LPN and/or RN Students.
- Create an environment of continued learning and critical thinking skills.
- Plan, orient, coordinate, evaluate, and coach students during the day.
- Work collaboratively with nursing leaders in the departments to create a good learning environment for students.
- Collaborate with the local college to meet the needs of the college’s requirements.
- Teach content as needed to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice.
- Serve as a resource to nursing staff, nursing students, and other health care personnel in the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to nursing knowledge and evidence based practice.
- Aid and provide direction to nursing students with clinical decision-making and prioritization.
- Facilitate clinical documentation standards, workflows, and related processes.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Completed a Bachelor in Nursing Degree.
- Experience: 2 years of ICU, CCU, ER, or Medical-Surgical experience. Preferred: 5 years of ICU, CCU, ER, or Medical-Surgical experience.
- Licenses/Certifications: Maintain RN Licensure to practice in the state of Iowa. BLS within 6 months of employment. Mandatory reporter of Dependent Adult/Child Abuse. Credential trainer of inpatient EPIC within 1 year of employment.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to learn basic and complex computer skills. Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. Commitment to implementing and maintaining staff compliance to changes in care delivery necessary to meet and exceed professional practice and regulatory standards, budgetary, and patient/family expectations.
