About the Role
This position is responsible for providing Nursing instruction within the Associate Degree Program, including clinical education and supervision at multiple clinical education centers. The instructor creates a safe, student-centered learning environment that is respectful of diversity and prepares students for a career as a nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction for assigned classes, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
- Mentor other instructors/program trainers in lecture, laboratory, or clinical instruction.
- Hold on-site office hours during clinical teaching, classroom, and laboratory times.
- Remain current with industry needs to ensure graduate outcomes meet workplace expectations.
- Participate in advisory committee and clinical education subcommittee meetings.
- Develop and maintain industry relationships.
- Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine instruction and curriculum effectiveness.
- Create a classroom/lab environment respectful of diversity and committed to multiculturalism.
- Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices and according to state regulations.
- Identify students needing assistance and refer them to Student Services.
- Collaborate with Student Services and Learning Resources staff to help students adjust to the learning environment.
- Stay current on developments in teaching to deliver instruction for various learning styles, using the latest technology and alternative delivery methods.
- Maintain course curriculum following state guidelines.
- Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) and coordinate with other departments.
- Update and maintain current course outcome summaries.
- Work cooperatively with college staff in selecting and ordering course and lab materials.
- Participate in staff development activities and serve on college improvement teams and committees.
- Assist in enforcing college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
- Participate in community activities to cultivate interest in communities served by the college.
- Assist in student and staff recruitment, retention, and job placement for graduates.
- Attend department, division, and faculty meetings; hold weekly office hours.
- Perform other duties to meet student, employer, and college needs as assigned by the Chair/Dean.
- Meet Wisconsin Technical College System requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- Two years (4,000 hours) of nursing experience, with at least one year (2,000 hours) within the five years prior to appointment. One year (2,000 hours) of experience may be waived with two years of post-secondary teaching experience in nursing within five years prior to appointment.
- Current or eligible for Wisconsin license to practice as an R.N. (must be licensed by employment start date).
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience in nursing.
- Medical/Surgical, Mental Health, and/or long-term care experience desired.
