Position Summary

Faculty members are responsible for the delivery of quality education services. This entails engaging students, fostering learning, role modeling professionalism, and ultimately producing competently trained students prepared for professional careers. This includes working with the Associate Director of Nursing over the assigned cohort, the Director of Nursing, and other campus faculty and staff to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of assigned courses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Become an ATI Champion within 90 days of hire date.
  • Prepare course plans and materials.
  • Deliver course lectures/facilitate labs and/or clinical rotations.
  • Maintain classroom.
  • Seek out an approved substitute in case of absence.
  • Enforce HCI policies (attendance, dress code, clinical policies, etc.).
  • Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies.
  • Work on retention plans and program development.
  • Attend staff and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums.
  • Facilitate student engagement.
  • Direct and assess student progress.
  • Provide weekly feedback reports.
  • Maintain relevant licenses and paperwork.
  • Maintain CEU’s annually.
  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Participate in ACEN and other accreditation activities.
  • Comply with all governmental regulations and standards of accreditation.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of an earned Bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing (BSN or equivalent).
  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing (MSN or equivalent) preferred.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered RN and/or APRN license from the Florida Department of Health.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Four (4) years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to manage students’ clinical and skills lab activities.
  • Computer literacy skills including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage people and projects.
  • Knowledgeable in the course content.
  • Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance.
  • Prepared in Educational Theory and Techniques.
  • A willingness to follow high ethical standards.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of an earned Bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing (BSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing (MSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program preferred.

Workload Expectations

  • Workload is dependent upon the faculty classification.
  • Teach a minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Participate in accreditation.
  • Serve on committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting and higher education teaching environment, along with activities of a professional nurse: communicating with coworkers, presenting to a classroom of students, demonstrating procedures and techniques, and getting to and from appropriate classes and offices. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Working Environment

Professional office setting: moderate noise levels; controlled indoor climate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • West Palm Beach (Main Campus)
  • Fort Lauderdale (A Branch of West Palm Beach)
