Nursing Assistant - Surgical Short Stay - 24 or 36 Hours/Week - Nights

Responsibilities

• Supports personal hygiene and daily living needs of patients.
• Ensures patient comfort and provides vital sign monitoring.
• Cleans and prepares treatment spaces while ensuring patient safety.
• Communicates patient needs and feedback to appropriate staff.
• Completes clinical activities as per the patient's plan of care.
• Documents patient activities and responses accurately and timely.
• Maintains a safe, efficient, and sanitary patient care environment.
• Performs exam room preparation and equipment setup.
• Manages sterilization needs and organizes clinical care stock.
• Assists with reception duties and administrative tasks.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Completion of first clinical rotation as Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Completion of a 75-hour state-approved Nurse Assistant course or 6 months of Nurse Assistant experience required.
• Previous customer service, cleaning, food service, and/or patient-related experience preferred.
• One to three months of on-the-job experience to learn hospital procedures and work routines preferred.
• Previous experience in patient care settings such as hospitals, clinics, or nursing homes preferred.
• Previous experience with direct patient contact preferred.
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

• Ability to understand and carry out instructions, follow schedules, communicate information, read simple and clear instructions, and complete reports.
• Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills commensurate with job description.
• Participation in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.
