Nursing Assistant Stepdown

Full Time, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week), 12-hour shifts on nights (7pm-7am), rotating weekends and holidays.

About the role

Provides direct, hands-on patient support across nursing units under the supervision of licensed staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with ADLs according to hospital procedures; reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to nurse in charge of patient.
• Assists with ambulation of patients and uses assist devices as appropriate to protect patient and staff member.
• Assists with restocking of rooms and maintains a safe and clean environment.
• Attends appropriate training programs, unit meetings, and other mandatory meetings.
• Seeks to be involved in unit improvements, quality projects, and other enhancements to patient care.
• Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
• Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.

Requirements

• Must be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent program; high school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience as a Patient Care Tech and/or completion of training in nursing school that covers Patient Care Tech type duties and/or must attend UPHSL Patient Care Tech training; previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
