About the Role

The Nursing Assistant (Staff) plays a critical role in providing compassionate and attentive care to patients within a healthcare setting. This position is primarily responsible for supporting nursing staff by assisting patients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The Nursing Assistant acts as a vital link between patients and the healthcare team, observing and reporting changes in patient conditions to facilitate timely medical interventions. Through direct patient care, the Nursing Assistant contributes to the overall quality of healthcare services and helps maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment. This role requires dedication, empathy, and strong communication skills to effectively support both patients and clinical staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant training program.
  • A current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent as required by the state.
  • Basic knowledge of patient care and safety procedures.
  • The ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital, long-term care, or clinical setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Additional training or coursework in geriatric or pediatric care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, accurately documenting findings.
  • Observe patients’ physical and emotional conditions and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient rooms and common areas, including changing bed linens and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
  • Support nursing staff with medical procedures and patient care tasks as directed, ensuring adherence to healthcare standards and protocols.

  • Utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with nursing and medical staff.
  • Attention to detail is essential when monitoring patient conditions and accurately documenting vital signs and observations to ensure high-quality care.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity are important for assisting patients with mobility and performing routine care tasks safely.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols is applied consistently to maintain a clean and secure environment for patients and staff.
  • Proficiency with basic healthcare technology, such as electronic health records, enhances the efficiency and accuracy of patient care documentation.
