About the Role
Provides basic and supportive nursing care to patients under supervision, ensuring safety, comfort, and hygiene. Participates in quality improvement activities and adheres to safety and infection control standards. Works courteously and with a customer-focused approach, assisting licensed staff as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assists with personal and hygiene care, supports mobility and positioning.
- Documents patient information in electronic health records.
- Performs basic nursing procedures such as specimen collection, wound care, and administering enemas.
- Performs respiratory care and manages equipment like Foley catheters and ostomy appliances.
- Provides post-mortem care.
- Supports patient transfers, ambulation, and equipment setup.
- Maintains cleanliness of units and equipment.
- Assists with admissions and discharges.
- Demonstrates effective judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Handles stressful situations tactfully.
- Participates in ongoing education and orientation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care technician program with clinical experience.
- Clinical competency and knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Physical and emotional health to perform duties.
- Ability to read, write, document accurately, and perform basic math.
- Empathetic attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to follow instructions.
Qualifications
Experience determines classification, with those meeting specific criteria eligible for senior nursing assistant status.
