Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) | Long Term Care
The Nurse Assistant position at Avera Majestic Bluffs/Avera Sister James Care Center is a regular, primarily day shift job with rotating weekends and holidays. The pay range is $19.75 - $27.50 per hour, with actual pay dependent on experience. The position offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus.
About the role
This role involves training to become a Certified Nurse Assistant and/or Medication Aide. Key responsibilities include assisting residents with activities of daily living, performing routine and non-routine tasks, monitoring vital signs, documenting care, and supporting residents' emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and certification as a Certified Nurse Aide within 120 days.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, toileting, feeding, and answering call lights.
- Perform blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, and weight checks.
- Document care activities accurately and report changes in resident conditions.
- Participate in restocking supplies, maintaining a clean environment, and following safety protocols.
- Support families and provide emotional, educational, and spiritual care.
- Report any incidents of abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should be able to work the specified hours, have visual acuity for position duties, and effective communication skills. They must also be able to follow established policies and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plans, and infection control.
Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and certification as a Certified Nurse Aide within 120 days. Prior experience as a Medication Aide is preferred.
Skills
Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.
