Nursing Assistant/MedSurg, Full Time, Days

About the role

The Nursing Assistant at Logan Regional Medical Center provides hands-on care to patients in assigned areas, supporting professional nursing personnel in delivering comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily living activities including bathing, grooming, feeding, and ambulation.
• Makes and records vital signs, weight, height, and intake and output measurements.
• Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reports any abnormalities to nursing staff.
• Prepares patient rooms for admission, discharge, and transfers; maintains cleanliness and order.
• Transports patients to and from various departments as needed.
• Assists nursing staff with routine clinical tasks, including application of heat/cold packs and enema administration.
• Performs post-mortem care and assists in transporting bodies to the morgue as required.
• Responds promptly to patient call lights and assists in meeting patient needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• Six months of experience in an acute care or long-term care facility preferred.

Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work under supervision, strong attention to detail, and basic computer proficiency are essential. Maintaining patient confidentiality is a key expectation.
