Nursing Assistant - Med/Surg Medical

About the role

Fairview is seeking a Nursing Assistant at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, and every other weekend. Eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more.

Responsibilities

• Assists the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care
• Transports patient and/or equipment
• Sets up and maintains patient rooms
• Reorders and stocks supplies
• Provides basic patient care including personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care, oral hygiene, specimen collection, position/ambulating, changing linens, answering call lights
• Maintains patient condition by monitoring and accurately taking and recording vital signs, placing patient on/off monitors, reporting unusual findings
• Aids in admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients
• Orients patients and their families to the environment
• Ensures patient belongings are accounted for upon admission, transfer, and discharge
• Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies
• Affirms patients’ punctuality for appointments
• Uses transfer belts during patient transfers and ambulation
• Cleans and sets up rooms and equipment

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
• Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program
• OR six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care or acute care setting
• OR current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program
• OR current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire

Qualifications

• License/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants must be able to obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
