NURSING ASSISTANT, BCH-GPU

About the role

Provides personal care, supportive services, and environmental services. Also assists in and supports activities of daily living. Maintains an atmosphere and environment which ensures SGMC’s values, goals and policies and procedures are consistently supported.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and transferring.
• Administers medications as directed by a licensed healthcare provider.
• Monitors patient vital signs and reports changes to supervising personnel.
• Ensures patient comfort and safety.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
• Adheres to infection control protocols.
• Maintains accurate documentation of patient care activities.

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
• CPR certification required.
• Experience within the last 6 months in CNA role in Acute Care Setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred.
• Able to communicate clearly with, and care for a variety of people.
• Flexible in scheduling and assignments.
• Evidence of personal health and hygiene.
• Ability to operate telephone, intercom system, calculator, and beeper.
• Ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition.

Skills

• Effective communication skills.
• Physical stamina and strength for lifting and moving patients.
• Infection control knowledge.
