About the Role

Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant who is driven to provide excellent care to our patients! When you start your career as a Nursing Assistant you will receive 2-3 weeks of training with our nursing education to learn more about our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. Being a part of the nursing team at Regions means you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact the type of care our patients receive and overall experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the patient with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Providing patient care treatments which include but are not limited to, discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting patient vitals, weights, and intake & output all in a safe, timely, and effective matter
  • Regularly collecting specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose at the direction of the nurse
  • Responding to patient call lights and requests
  • Communicating with patients and visitors
  • Assisting the nurses with procedures as requested
  • Documenting and charting in our electronic health system

Schedule

.7 FTE (28 hours per week) working evenings (3pm-11:30pm). This position requires you work every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include being listed on the MN Registry) Or Experience in an acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician (6 months at a minimum of 0.5 FTE) Or Completion of one clinical rotation in a RN or LPN program within the past 12 months
  • A current Basic Life Support CPR certification from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Experience or nursing assistant education must have occurred within the last five (5) years
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart BLS for Healthcare Providers) required (demonstrates at the time of employment and every 2 years thereafter)

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Demonstrates basic computer skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers
  • Ability to independently initiate appropriate tasks within the scope of practice of the position
  • Ability to provide individualized care and respond to a variety of patient/family preferences
  • Ability to provide an exceptional patient experience utilizing strong customer service skills
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting
  • Nursing assistant certification
  • Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
