Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the Nursing Academic Specialist (NAS) team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic coaching.
- Oversee and manage the professional development of NAS staff to maintain up-to-date knowledge of nursing education trends and best practices.
- Ensure NAS team compliance with multi-state licensure requirements and oversee timely renewals.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for NAS staff and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Develop and implement strategies for tracking quarterly retention measures, analyzing data to identify trends, and making data-driven recommendations for student success initiatives.
- Track NAS metrics such as number of student appointments scheduled and fulfilled, content creation, student retention, and outcomes.
- Support instruction and remediation in didactic concepts.
- Demonstrate accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide targeted interventions and support for students struggling with academic performance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NCLEX requirements, nursing education trends, and best practices for student outcomes.
- Coordinate and assist with the identification or development of NCLEX preparation materials and analyze the effectiveness of those resources.
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of student success initiatives, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Develop and provide student workshops and study sessions.
- Provide 1:1 student support with nursing concepts.
- Facilitate communication between faculty, students, and administration regarding academic performance and program improvements.
- Participate as a stakeholder in the continuous quality improvement of the nursing curriculum.
- Provide group and individual support for NCLEX prep.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active unencumbered license to practice professional nursing; compact multi-state license required.
- Master’s or higher degree in nursing is required.
- Minimum three years of full-time clinical experience in a professional setting as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience as an educator in post-secondary education required.
- Experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of current evidence-based professional nursing practice.
- Strong leadership, supervisory, and management skills.
- Excellent public speaking and oral communication skills to effectively mentor and guide students and staff.
- Proficiency in computers (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint & Adobe).
- Proficiency in Canvas LMS and ATI platforms.
- Strong organizational and data analysis skills to track quarterly retention measures and performance outcomes.
