Nursery Director

About the Role

This position collaborates with other members of the BMBC staff, paid caregivers, and volunteers, with the primary responsibility of ensuring the success of BMBC’s nursery ministry and childcare. The goal is to assure the nursery is always available and welcoming for any young family wishing to attend a church event at any time.

Responsibilities

• Minister to children ages birth through preschool and their families, ensuring smooth operation of nursery, Sunday school, and childcare.
• Build and expand the Early Childhood ministry, including outreach to new parents and first-time families (tracking and celebrating new births).
• Prepare age-appropriate lessons and activities, fostering an environment that facilitates spiritual transformation.
• Communicate needs and expectations with paid caregivers and volunteers.
• Coordinate childcare needs with BMBC staff and volunteers for regular and special events.
• Create monthly schedules for caregivers and ensure adequate nursery hospitality support.
• Approve paid caregivers’ hours and respond to scheduling or staffing changes.
• Ensure BMBC nursery policies align with industry best practices and train caregivers/volunteers accordingly.
• Handle disputes between caregivers and/or parents quickly and effectively.
• Model hospitality and care to parents and children.
• Develop and implement an appreciation program for caregivers.

Requirements

• High School diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Leadership, management, or HR experience in day schools, daycare facilities, or church ministry preferred.
• Must be a committed Christian comfortable working in a church environment.
• Expected to exhibit appropriate demeanor both on and off the job, leading a life that reflects the gospel.

• Lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds.
• Fine motor skills.
