Nurse Unit Manager LPN
About the Role
The Nurse Unit Manager LPN's primary purpose is to manage the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility, ensuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. This role involves overseeing nursing care through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
Responsibilities
- Manages the nursing staff, including scheduling breaks, reassigning employees as needed, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with the responsibility to issue coaching and corrective action.
- Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, and other related departments to plan care.
- Develops and maintains care standards.
- Makes frequent rounds to monitor resident/patient conditions and ensure nursing personnel perform their duties according to acceptable nursing standards.
- Gives and receives nursing reports at the start and end of shifts.
- Ensures assigned work areas (e.g., nurse station, med cart, medication room) and resident/patient care rooms are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
- Assists the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
- Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
- Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, and family members.
- Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs dictate.
- Ensures restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and the resident’s response.
- Documents all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards, and policies.
- Completes required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
- Informs nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected arrival time, and room assignments.
- Performs all other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Long-term care and MDS experience preferred.

- Understands and follows infection control standards, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Physical Requirements
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling, with or without mechanical aids.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards.
- Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
