Nurse Unit Manager LPN
About the Role
As the Nurse Unit Manager LPN, your primary purpose is to manage the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility, ensuring the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. You will ensure nursing care is provided through assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
Responsibilities
- Manages the nursing staff, including scheduling breaks, reassigning employees as needed, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with the responsibility to issue Coaching and Corrective Action.
- Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, and other related departments in planning care.
- Develops and maintains care standards.
- Makes frequent rounds to note resident/patient conditions and ensures nursing personnel perform their work according to acceptable nursing standards.
- Gives and receives the nursing report upon starting and ending shift duty hours.
- Ensures assigned work areas (e.g., nurse station, med cart, medication room), resident/patient care rooms, and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
- Assists the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
- Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, and charting.
- Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, and family members.
- Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.
- Ensures all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and the resident’s response to care.
- Documents all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards, and policies.
- Completes required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
- Informs nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, and room assignment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Long-Term care and MDS experience preferred.

- Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Physical Requirements
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling, with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards.
- Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
