Nurse Technician (Med Surg) PRN

About the role

A Nurse Technician at Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a vital member of the healthcare team. You will provide basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and report any changes in patient condition.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Makes rounds to monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and ambulation.
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings.
• Maintains patient rooms and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
• Supports nursing and physician staff with patient care activities and unit workflow.
• Manages tech desk operations and assists with maintaining efficient department throughput.
• Documents patient care and activities in accordance with hospital and unit standards.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Licensure: State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Handle with Care certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Pay

The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This position is available on a 3x12 schedule, rotating days and nights, with additional weekend shifts.
