About the role
This class is accountable for rendering bedside care to the physically or chronically ill in cases where the services of a registered or licensed practical nurse are not required. It involves assisting doctors and nurses in general care and well-being of patients, positioning, transferring, moving and lifting patients, taking and recording temperatures, pulses and respirations, observing patients and reporting unusual symptoms and/or behavior, ensuring that restraints are correctly applied, testing urine samples for sugar, collecting specimens, keeping beds, bedpans and related equipment clean, maintaining unit environment for safety of patient, transporting patients, specimens and other related patient items, preparing reports and correspondence including necessary forms and/or requisitions, dietary orders, death paperwork and assembly of charts, feeding, bathing and massaging clients as well as responding to their general needs, applying or removing braces, processing billing and/or insurance information, acting as triage and/or receptionist for incoming patients and telephone calls, scheduling patient appointments, ordering supplies, and performing related duties as required.
Responsibilities

- Performs related duties as required
Requirements
- Considerable interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with basic principles of nursing including infection control practices
- Deal with physically and chronically ill
- Learn safety and fire procedures
- Certification as a Nurse's Aide
- One (1) year of experience in patient care in a hospital or nursing home
- Experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (nursing home)
- Experience providing nursing services to patients with dementia
- Experience working with the veterans population
- Experience working with clients/patients with behavioral health issues or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Experience documenting in an Electronic Health Record (e-MAR)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a certified Nurse's Aide program

Pay
- $26.39* - $35.77/hour (*New state employees start at the minimum)
Schedule
- Part-Time, 24 Hours per Week, First Shift (6:45am - 3:15pm)
- Week 1: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- Week 2: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- This position may be eligible for weekend differential.
