Responsibilities
- Completes weekly head to toe skin assessments and documents in the EHR.
- Ensures appropriate treatments and/or interventions are in place for skin issues identified during the skin rounds.
- Collaborates with the Clinician or Wound NP to obtain new orders or discontinue orders as needed.
- Updates the ADON and DON if any new or worsened ulcers are identified.
- Updates the ADON and DON with any non-healing wounds.
- Demonstrates proper infection control practices.
- Affixes to and participates in weekly SIT meetings.
- Ensures residents’ responsible parties are updated on wound progress.
- Proactively develops positive employee relations and promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
- Performs other duties as requested by the DON or ADON.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current RN license for the state where the facility is located.
- Understands the integumentary system and willing to continue learning.
- Utilizes excellent communications skills to relate to patients, families, and staff members.
- Constantly updates knowledge through ongoing education.
