About the role

CarePoint Response, Inc. (CPR) is Baltimore’s comprehensive behavioral health crisis response system. Since 1992, we have provided compassionate, evidence-based behavioral health services to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. Our mission is to provide timely, effective, and person-centered behavioral health crisis response services in the least restrictive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Nursing Care and Monitoring
    • Complete nursing assessments and provide ongoing monitoring within the LPN scope of practice.
    • Perform physical and behavioral health assessments and identify changes in client condition.
    • Promptly communicate significant findings to the Registered Nurse, licensed provider, and treatment team.
    • Monitor client responses to treatment and support positive health and recovery outcomes.
  • Medication Administration and Treatment
    • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, organizational policies, and the Maryland Nurse Practice Act.
    • Monitor clients for medication effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.
    • Follow medication safety protocols and promptly report clinical concerns.
  • Care Coordination and Client Education
    • Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, therapists, peer support specialists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Support the implementation of individualized treatment and discharge plans.
    • Educate clients and families about medications, treatment plans, wellness strategies, and community resources within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Crisis Response and Safety
    • Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral health crises using established emergency protocols.
    • Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
    • Follow infection prevention, risk management, and medication safety procedures.
    • Demonstrate professionalism and sound clinical judgment during urgent or challenging situations.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Complete accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record.
    • Protect client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
    • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, Maryland Board of Nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
    • Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, required training, and continuing education.

Qualifications

  • Education and Licensure
    • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
    • Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse license in the State of Maryland.
    • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience
    • Two years of nursing experience preferred.
    • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, crisis intervention, withdrawal management, residential treatment, or substance use disorder services is strongly preferred.
