NURSE RESIDENT RN I- 3N Night Shift

About the Role

Moffitt Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida. As a Nurse Resident, you will initiate a professional nursing practice career in a supportive environment committed to mentoring, coaching, and learning. The residency program is designed to build confidence through a structured, professional transition-to-practice experience customized to individual developmental needs. Nurse Residents will create and enhance professional networks, hone clinical and leadership skills, and participate in paid education days off the unit.

The residency program spans 12 months, including unit-specific orientation (12 or 16 weeks). It features informal one-on-one meetings for additional support and progress monitoring. Residents will evaluate their own progress and the overall program. This role is for the 3 North unit, a 22-bed telemetry med-surg unit with private rooms, specializing in NucRad patients (IV nuclear medicine for ocular melanoma) and Brachy patients (pinpointed radiation therapy). The patient population ranges from young adults to older adults, offering opportunities to strengthen assessment skills across all organ systems.

Responsibilities

• Participate in scheduled eight-hour paid education days off the unit for required class activities.
• Engage in informal one-on-one meetings for support and progress monitoring throughout the 12-month program.
• Evaluate personal progress and the overall residency program.
• Deliver individualized quality nursing care to cancer patients and families in accordance with established guidelines, the nursing professional practice model, and ANA code of ethics.
• Embody Moffitt Nursing’s vision, mission, and philosophy, focusing on personalized patient and family-centered care using Duffy’s quality caring model.
• Use the nursing process to plan and manage quality patient care, addressing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.
• Sign a Commitment Agreement to work a minimum of two years at Moffitt Cancer Center post-residency; failure to complete the program or commitment may require repayment of program costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). In lieu of a BSN, an Associate’s degree in Nursing plus 1 year of relevant experience may be considered.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida, or a valid Multi-State privilege to practice in Florida (must declare Florida as primary state of residence within 60 days of hire if licensed in another eNLC compact state).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Pay

Salary range: $36.63 - $54.93 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
