About the Role

Moffitt is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, employing some of the best and brightest minds from around the world. As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver individualized quality nursing care to cancer patients and families in accordance with established hospital guidelines, the nursing professional practice model, nursing care standards and policies, and the ANA code of ethics. You will embody the vision, mission, and philosophy of Moffitt Nursing, committed to personalized patient and family-centered care and the concepts of Duffy's quality caring model.

Frameworks of care include: collaboration and mutual problem-solving, dignity and human respect, encouraging manner, attentive reassurance, appreciation of unique meaning, healing environment, basic human needs, information sharing, caring for self, and affiliation needs.

Moffitt supports nursing staff with Chemotherapy Certification classes and quarterly education workshops. Registered Nurses use the nursing process to plan and manage quality patient care, addressing biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate professional nursing practice in a supportive environment focused on mentoring, coaching, and learning.
  • Build confidence through a structured, professional transition into-practice experience customized to individual developmental needs.
  • Develop leadership skills to positively impact the clinical practice environment and patient outcomes.
  • Create and enhance professional networks and relationships with peers during the residency.
  • Hone and develop clinical and leadership skills in a world-class academic medical institution.
  • Participate in scheduled eight-hour paid education days off the unit for required class activities.
  • Complete a 12-month residency program, including unit-specific orientation (12 or 16 weeks, depending on the unit).
  • Attend informal, one-on-one meetings at scheduled intervals for additional support and progress monitoring.
  • Participate in evaluations of individual progress and the overall program.

Requirements

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required.
  • Active Florida RN License required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) may be required within 6 months of hire for some specialties.
