About the role
The role involves maintaining guest and crew member health records, completing paperwork for medical situations, and executing various medical procedures and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Maintain guest and crew illness logs and medical notes
- Complete paperwork associated with medical situations
- Maintain crewmember illness logs and medical files
- Fill out accident reports and maintain injury logs
- Maintain current crewmember physical examinations
- Maintain Acute Gastroenteritis log for U.S.P.H. and report as required
- Prepare and maintain Medical Center charges records
- Execute Code Alpha and evacuation procedures
- Train and lead stretcher teams in Fire and Lifeboat drills, and first-aid training
- Obtain and test water samples, culture for growth of Coliform organisms
- Perform weekly checks of emergency and medical center equipment
- Sterilize surgical instruments
- Order medical supplies and equipment
- Manage inventory through MXP system, follow MXP rules for approval
- Complete external requisition forms for supplies, follow MXP rules for approval
- Proficient with MXP system, maintain proper inventory levels
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years post-graduate clinical experience
- Intermediate to Advanced verbal and written level of English
- One (1) year practical experience in Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- One (1) year experience working in the Emergency Department
- One (1) year experience performing Basic Life support until the physician arrives
- Chronology of all medical activities since graduation from nursing school
- Associate Degree in Nursing (AND/ASN) or foreign equivalent required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Valid nursing license from country or State/Province of origin is required (USA license required for USA flagged vessels)
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support within one year of application, with renewal every two years
Qualifications

Physical Requirements
- Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40.0 or less
- Maximum blood pressure of 160/100
- Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) required
- Ability to maintain balance, climb ladders, stairs, and open/close doors
- Ability to lift and carry 55 pounds over a long distance, repeatedly
- Ability to pull and lift fire hoses, put on PFDs, and perform other duties
- Normal vision, color perception, and ability to react to visual and auditory alarms
- Ability to move arms, elbows, wrists, shoulders, knees, and ankles
- Ability to grasp and manipulate tools, crouch, kneel, crawl, and distinguish textures
- No physical limitations that would hinder or prevent the performance of duties
