Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Elicit medical histories of patients, perform physical examinations, and develop a differential diagnosis/problem list.
  • Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and radiologic data.
  • Diagnose, and treat co-morbid illness within the scope of a patient's hematologic/oncologic diagnosis.
  • Perform procedures as delegated by the attending physician.
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Determine the eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings.
  • Evaluate the quality of care provided and recommend changes for improvement.
  • Initiate appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.
  • Educate patients and families about the disease process and treatment.
  • Provide information to patients and families related to symptom management and psychosocial response to the diagnosis of cancer and related treatment.

Travel

Rarely required.

Required Experience

  • State of Maine Nurse Practitioner/Physicians Associate license required or the ability to obtain.
  • State of New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assiociate License required or the ability to obtain.
  • Three (3) years' experience in Oncology and Hematology.
  • Master's Degree Required.
  • Women's Health Experience Desired.

Ability

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff.
  • Communicate with patients in a clear, concise, and compassionate manner.
