Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Neuroscience ICU

Work Schedule

• 100% FTE
• Mainly days with rotating nights (3-5 shifts per 6 week period)
• 1:6 weekends (12, 16 hour shifts)
• Includes additional compensation for night and weekend hours

About the Role

Be part of something remarkable. Come provide care to adults with serious neurological illnesses in our Neuroscience ICU. At UW Health – an academic medical center and Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program – you will treat the most complex trauma and stroke cases in the state.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty, residents, fellows, surgeons, and nursing staff to provide on-going patient care and management.
• Partner with a larger team including Neurosurgery, Neurocritical Care and Neurology to provide medical and perioperative care during critical illness.
• Perform routine clinical procedures independently as outlined in practice agreements/scope of practice.

Requirements

• If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
• If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
• Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin for Nurse Practitioner.
• Active PA license in State of Wisconsin for Physician Assistant.
• Active board certification as a NP in Acute Care only (Adult or Adult/Gerontology will be considered only if previous ICU experience).
• Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.

Qualifications

• Experience or interest in Neuroscience ICU (NSICU), acute care, neuro critical care, surgical ICU, and medical ICU would be beneficial.

Skills

Advanced practice providers with experience or an interest in Neuroscience ICU (NSICU), acute care, neuro critical care, surgical ICU, and medical ICU would succeed on this team.
