Nurse Practitioner - Pediatrics- Full Time- (Start date is around January 2027)

About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Pediatric provides direct patient care within state and scope of practice guidelines at assigned Barton HealthCare System outpatient clinic facilities. The NP works independently as well as collaboratively with other providers to deliver comprehensive care, including patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication prescription, test ordering and interpretation, patient education, medical record preparation, and patient referrals in accordance with statutes, regulations, and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough medical histories and complete physical examinations.
• Initiate appropriate lab, radiology, or other special tests and interpret results to establish patient health status and develop treatment plans.
• Perform routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Medical Staff.
• Prescribe and monitor medications in compliance with state laws, DEA licensure, and Barton Health policies.
• Provide patient education regarding care and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
• Refer patients for consultation or specialized health resources and treatment as needed.
• Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between the patient and multidisciplinary care team.
• Maintain timely and accurate charting of clinical encounters in Barton Health's Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform.
• Document all aspects of patient care and observations completely, accurately, and promptly; sign off medical records within 48 hours.
• Accurately code clinical encounters with CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, State Agencies).
• Support and uphold organizational policies, procedures, and objectives related to quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Respond to departmental needs by performing other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner training program.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP).
• Minimum two years of recent outpatient clinic experience as an NP preferred.
• Experience working in a Rural Health Clinic (RHC) or Federally Qualified RHC preferred for pediatrics.
• Current National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner through NCC, ANCC, PNCB, or AANPCB.
• Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in California or ability to obtain prior to start date.
• Licensed as an RN in applicable state prior to start date.
• Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider).
• Additional licenses and certifications as required per Med Staff bylaws and state laws (CA and/or NV).

Skills

• Computer literacy in common office applications.
• Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) database or equivalent; Epic experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Flexible with a strong sense of teamwork.
• Ability to effectively communicate in English, in compliance with patient safety standards.
• Bilingual abilities preferred.

Physical Demands
