About the Role
Provide high-quality health care to Kaiser Permanente members in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with accepted professional practice standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality health care through direct assessment, diagnosis, and formulation/implementation of treatment plans for patients with common acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. This may include:
- Performing histories and physicals
- Ordering, interpreting, and following up on diagnostic studies
- Ordering medications
- Assisting with surgery
- Performing minor surgery
- Rounding on patients
- Assuming on-call responsibilities
- Perform health maintenance services, including patient education, for well members.
- Refer patients for specialty consultation or difficult problems.
- Document all care in patients' permanent medical records in accordance with accepted medical/legal standards.
- Provide medical care in accordance with accepted practice standards, hospital/clinic protocols (including supervision by a physician), and state licensing guidelines.
- Coordinate, develop, or organize patient or department services or programs, such as:
- Developing department/hospital protocols
- Screening incoming department referrals
- Coordinating CME activities for the department
- Developing written patient education materials
- Providing in-service training
- Proctoring NP/PA students
- Chairing or participating on committees (e.g., Breastfeeding Task Force, Regional Controlled Substance Abuse Committee)
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Graduate of an ANA-approved NP or AMA-approved PA or Child Health Associate training program (both provide master’s or equivalent degrees) or equivalent requirements to meet state licensure.
- Credentials from multiple states required:
- Primary work state credentials required at hire.
- Additional credentials from secondary work state(s) required post-hire.
- One of the following sets of licenses and certifications:
- Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Nurse Practitioner National Certificate AND Nurse Practitioner License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License (Washington) within 6 months of hire AND Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire
- Physician Assistant License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire AND Physician Assistant National Certificate AND Physician Assistant License (Washington) within 6 months of hire
- National Provider Identifier required at hire.
- Drug Enforcement Administration Registration.
- Compact License is acceptable in lieu of a Washington RN license.
Skills
- Thorough and working knowledge of all common diseases in specialty field; familiarity with less common diseases.
- Working knowledge of state health care laws, licensing board regulations, and controlled substance regulations, including limitations and when to refer patients.
- Ability to assess, diagnose, and effectively treat common medical diseases and injuries.
- Ability to use appropriate procedural/testing equipment, manage a large patient volume, and interface with large provider and support staff.
- Minor surgery or surgical assist skills.
- Demonstrated customer-focused service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of clinical experience.
Schedule
- Full-time, standard worker location onsite.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
- Shift: Day (Monday–Friday).
- Working hours: 07:45 AM – 06:00 PM.
- Travel: Yes, 100% of the time to all West Side locations (Beaverton, Tualatin, Sunset, Cedar Hills, and Hillsboro Medical Office).
Pay
Pay range: $66.09 – $100.87 per year. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not reflect the full value of the total rewards package. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
