Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Outpatient Pulmonary

About the role

Texas Children’s is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic pediatric team.

Responsibilities

• Practice in an advanced role to provide health maintenance and episodic care for well and ill children, and comprehensive care for children with chronic conditions.
• Collaborate with other members of the health care team to improve patient care.
• Assess patients’ physical status through physical examinations and document findings in medical records.
• Prescribe or administer medications as delegated by supervising physicians and document in medical records.
• Order diagnostic tests and evaluate results in collaboration with physicians.
• Manage patients’ caseload, including health maintenance and health promotion activities.
• Communicate with the interdisciplinary team and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
• Utilize effective interviewing skills to gather information from patients and families and collaborate in developing care plans.
• Initiate consultations and referrals as necessary.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain up-to-date knowledge in pediatric nursing.

Qualifications

• For Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree, PA-C certification from the Texas Medical Board, Pediatric and/or Pulmonary experience preferred.
• For Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree in nursing, RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact, FNP, NNP, PNP-BC, WHNP-BC, CPNP-AC, or AG-ACNP from the Texas Board of Nursing, Pediatric and/or Pulmonary experience preferred.
