About the Role
Alcanza is a growing multi-site, multi-phase clinical research company with a network of locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. We specialize in Phase I-IV studies across various therapeutic areas, including vaccine, neurology, dermatology, psychiatry, and general medicine. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will serve as a Sub-Investigator in research studies, performing physical and medical history assessments, and assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) with subject management.
Responsibilities
- Perform functions of Sub-Investigator under the direction of the PI, ensuring adherence to IRB-approved protocols.
- Execute informed consent process, monitor patient status and safety, and collect/organize research data.
- Conduct study-specific training and site in-services for staff on new or amended protocols.
- Educate patients and families about treatments and potential side effects.
- Perform research procedures such as physical exams, injections, IVs, medical history review, and vital sign assessments.
- Mix and/or dispense investigational products and instruct subjects on usage.
- Participate in pre-study, site initiation visits, investigator meetings, and customer-facing meetings.
- Assist with change management, process improvement, and staff training/mentoring.
- Maintain compliance with GCP, ICH, HIPAA, NIH, FDA regulations, and SOPs.
- Handle regulatory documents, SAE reporting, and maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.
- May perform Clinical Research Coordinator duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
- Active license to practice as an advanced practice professional in the state of practice.
- Research experience is a plus.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is a plus.
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, email, EHRs, and web applications.
- Ability to perform basic clinical procedures (e.g., vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, IVs).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
