Responsibilities The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire an additional Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our regional practice in SWWI. The SWWI Region includes ERs in La Crosse and Sparta. Our current need is in the La Crosse, WI Emergency Medicine department. This position provides the opportunity to join and further develop a high-quality healthcare delivery team committed to practice, education and research. The EDs have an annual volume of 24,100 visits/year in La Crosse. NP PAs cover 12-hour shifts alongside an EM physician colleague in La Crosse. The NP PA is an independent provider, collaborates with the physician, and works with various other healthcare professionals. The NP PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education. The NP PA will perform various procedures, including laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, etc. Mayo Clinic values the skills and expertise of the NP PA in Emergency Medicine, and our goal is for you to be able to practice safely and confidently. Current Wisconsin RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP. OR Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and licensed as a PA by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services An unrestricted prescriptive authority in Wisconsin, (Wisconsin Medical Examiners Board and DEA). BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and NRP certifications are preferred by the time of starting the position and are required by completion of orientation. Emergency Medicine Fellowship, or 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience is strongly preferred.
