About the role
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant, working under the supervision of a collaborating physician (or supervision of a physician pursuant to a written agreement, in the case of the PA), provides primary care to Temple University students by assessing and managing routine acute/chronic problems and performing routine health prevention care. Consults with appropriate medical staff when further consultation is warranted.
Responsibilities
- Obtain health history and perform physical examinations
- Recommend appropriate treatments
- Prescribe under physician supervision unless holding an independent prescriptive license
- Assist in the development of nursing and nurse practitioner protocols
- Provide gynecologic care to female students
- Coordinate follow-up for patients seen
- Document clearly and appropriately in the electronic medical record
- Utilize laboratory and dispensary services appropriately
- Solve complex problems within established policies
- Apply significant judgment within clinical specialty
- Investigate and implement best practices
- Maintain Continuing Education requirements for licensure
- Remain up to date in area of practice
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- B.S.N. with a master's degree in nursing, or graduate from an accredited PA program
- Must be licensed and certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the state of Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Nurse Practitioner or PA with experience in college health, women's health care, family practice, urgent care, or emergency medicine

Schedule
This position is on-site and has the potential to be 10 months per year, with summers off.
