About the role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated team at Ochsner Health. Your role will involve working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents with mental health and substance use conditions.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient history and perform assessments using interview, observation, and examination
- Formulate a diagnosis and develop and implement treatment plans including prescribing medication
- Coordinate with additional healthcare providers to provide outstanding care that promotes positive patient outcomes
- Maintain an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes
- Develop working relationships with physicians and colleagues
- Provide education experiences to patient families, staff, and other health professionals
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited masters or doctorate program specializing in psychiatric nurse practitioner
- 2 years’ related psychiatry working experience with children/adolescents
- Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice
- Current board certification as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) with Child/Adolescent Training
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Current or eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing
- Current or eligible for Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration/Licensure
Qualifications
- Reliable transportation including the ability to travel throughout and between facilities
- Competency documenting services using an electronic medical records system
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (weekends/holidays/nights/call)
Skills
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) specific to role
- Strong interpersonal skills

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This position offers a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of both the employee and the organization. Shifts may vary and may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.
