Job Summary

The OB-ED Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within Erlanger’s Obstetric Emergency Department. This position is designed for experienced providers who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about maternal and fetal health. This role offers a balanced work-life rhythm with hours from 7:00am-7:00pm or 7:00pm-7:00am. Shifts typically include both day and night coverage, with specific schedule to be discussed during the interview.

About the Role

The APP provides comprehensive evaluation and management of patients presenting to the OB-ED. They collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. They perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate appropriate treatment plans. They support labor and delivery triage and manage obstetric emergencies as needed. They maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all clinical protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Education Required: Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Preferred Experience: In obstetrics, women's health or emergency medicine preferred
  • Experience Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education

Position Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Tennessee
  • National certification in a specialty (such as ACNP, ANP, CCNS, FNP)
  • Certificate of fitness from the state of Tennessee (as required by specialty)
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward

Qualifications

  • Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents
