Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)

About the role

Conduct one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams (compensation and pension exams) in Pueblo, CO. Review pertinent medical history documentation, perform exams, and capture responses via web-based examination forms; all documentation is completed electronically. Completed exams are sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations. Standard exams include musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory assessments. Ancillary services (X-rays, labs, EKGs, PFTs, ABIs) may be ordered and performed on-site or nearby. This role supports patient care during sensitive procedures where patients may request a same-gender staff member; the facility seeks appropriate gender representation among staff to accommodate patient choice.

Responsibilities

• Review veteran medical history and conduct one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams.
• Document exam findings electronically using web-based examination forms.
• Submit completed exams to the VA for disability award determinations.
• Perform standard exams: musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and respiratory.
• Order and coordinate ancillary tests (X-rays, labs, EKGs, PFTs, ABIs) as needed, conducted on location or nearby.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license maintained throughout employment.
• Physician Assistants must hold active NCCPA certification maintained throughout employment.
• Master’s degree or successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant program.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Fully vaccinated per CDC and state guidelines (required for all on-site staff and contractors).
• Prior VA or compensation exam experience is a plus but not required.

Pay

Hourly, $60.07–$63.23 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

Schedule

Part-time, Monday–Wednesday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm.
